Mura. Locality in the territory of Montaione in Tuscany

Located a few kilometres from Montaione, following directions to San Miniato, you can find the village of Mura, whose name probably derives from an ancient castle or fortress, which was located in this area around the fifteenth century.
Some archaeological findings show that the area was inhabited since the times of the Etruscans, although the notice we have since the year 1356 in a document relating to the Church of Sorripole gone destroyed after a landslide and rebuilt around the nineteenth century. Today is dedicated to Santo Stefano in Sorripole.
In Mura there is now a restaurant, a distributor of fuel, a riding school and some homes for vacation.
