Alberi. Locality in the territory of Montaione in Tuscany
Tagged Under : Alberi, Localities
Located a few kilometres from Montaione, along the valley of river Egola, lies the village of Alberi.
In ancient times the town was named Sorripa Nuova, to distinguish it from Sorripa, situated in elevated position relative to current locality. Alberi village takes its name from the fact that in the area – thanks to moisture of the valley – there are many plantations of poplar, which in local language and typical Tuscan slang are commonly called “trees”.
Alberi today, you can find a church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, several restaurants, farmhouses and accommodations.
